Software Engineering Intern (Full-stack / Automation)
We build automation workflows, web applications, and backend processing systems for real-world business clients. As an intern, you'll work directly with the lead developer on production projects, not toy assignments. You'll write code that ships, integrate third-party APIs, and learn how small, efficient engineering teams deliver for clients.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain backend services with Node.js (REST APIs, background jobs, data processing)
- Develop web application features using React.js and Tailwind CSS
- Work with relational databases (MySQL / PostgreSQL): schema design, queries, migrations
- Integrate third-party APIs (e-commerce platforms, shipping carriers, Google Workspace, etc.)
- Debug, test, and document your work; participate in code reviews
Must-have
- Solid fundamentals in JavaScript
- Basic understanding of REST APIs (how to consume and build them)
- Familiarity with SQL and relational database concepts
- Comfortable using Git and reading technical documentation in English
- Self-driven, able to research problems independently before asking, and communicate clearly about blockers
Nice-to-have
- Experience with Node.js frameworks (Express, NestJS) or React projects (personal or coursework)
- Exposure to Tailwind CSS or other utility-first CSS
- Experience with Google Apps Script or workflow automation tools
- Understanding of authentication (JWT, OAuth), webhooks, or cron jobs
- Basic Linux/server knowledge (SSH, PM2, deployment)
What you'll get
- Direct mentorship from an experienced developer (Top Rated Plus on Upwork)
- Hands-on experience with production systems and real client projects
- Exposure to the full development cycle: requirements, build, deploy, maintain
- Flexible working arrangement and monthly internship allowance (negotiable based on skill level)
- Strong candidates may be offered a longer-term paid position
